April marks Autism Awareness Month, a time to celebrate diversity, promote acceptance, and raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We have been honored to host, alongside Autism Speaks, our Santa & Bunny Cares events for several years, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for children on the spectrum to enjoy memorable experiences with Santa and the Easter Bunny.
Creating Inclusive Experiences
Santa Cares and Bunny Cares events are designed to cater to the unique sensory needs of children with autism. We understand that crowded and noisy environments can be overwhelming for individuals on the spectrum, so we take special measures to create a sensory-friendly atmosphere. During these events, we lower the lights, turn down the music, and minimize distractions to ensure a calm and comfortable environment for all guests.
Staff Training and Sensitivity
Our dedicated staff undergo specialized training to interact with guests in a sensory-friendly environment. They are equipped with knowledge and techniques to accommodate the needs of children on the spectrum, including non-verbal communication methods, patience, and understanding.
